September 6: WINNEWANA mixed-terrain bike ride
The WINNEWANA bike ride is a self-supported mixed-terrain bike ride sponsored by York Food & Drink. Built for gravel enthusiasts of different experience levels, the event is composed of a 50-kilometer ride for beginners, a 100-kilometer ride for more seasoned bikers and a 100-mile ride for intense cyclists. Although WINNEWANA is not a race, it is also not a “no-drop” ride — a style of group ride where no one is left behind, or “dropped” — either and participants are free to take the course at their own pace. The route takes open roads, so bikers are expected to obey traffic laws. A hired photographer will be taking photos at various points on the route, which will be available a few days following the event.
When: Sept. 6. The 50-kilometer ride starts at 10:11 a.m.; the 100-kilometer ride starts at 9:11 a.m.; and the 100-mile ride starts at 7:11 a.m…
