The suicide rate in Washtenaw County decreased by 12% from 2024 to 2025, according to a new report released by the Washtenaw County Health Department.
The department’s Suicide Report details local trends through 2025, although officials caution that 2025 figures are preliminary and subject to change. Thirty-six Washtenaw County residents died by suicide in 2025.
“Washtenaw County’s suicide rate remains below both the Michigan and national suicide completion rates,” said Patty Krause, MPH, community health analyst with the Washtenaw County Health Department. “Our hope is that this report can inform prevention efforts and raise awareness of the importance of local mental health resources.”…
