MSP and UofM Launch Community Violence Prevention Info Resource

Michigan State Police and the University of Michigan Institute for Firearm Injury Prevention have launched an online dashboard identifying violence prevention and intervention programs across the state.

The Michigan Byrne SCIP Community Violence Intervention Dashboard provides program information, contact details and general location information for programs that work to prevent violence. Locally, it includes information for Healing, Engagement, Love, Presence (H.E.L.P.) in Saginaw, Violent Gun and Gang Reduction Program from the Saginaw Community Foundation, behavioral and mental health authorities, the Boys and Girls Club of the Great Lakes Bay Region, the Midland Area Community Foundation’s Youth Impact Partnership, and more. The dashboard was funded through the federal Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program, and information was compiled from publicly available sources and reviewed by MSP and University of Michigan staff. Officials note that the dashboard is not a comprehensive list of every community violence intervention program in Michigan, and information may change over time…
