Saline resident Doug Kalitta raced at nearly 340 mph on his way to the Top Fuel semifinals as the National Hot Rod Association returned for Michigan’s first full national event in 66 years.
Kalitta entered the inaugural Dodge NHRA Great Lakes Nationals at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park in Martin as the top playoff seed. He left in second place after teammate Shawn Langdon defeated him with the fastest run in NHRA history, then won the event.
