Over 640 workers to be laid off in Wayne County

More than 640 workers will lose their jobs at two western Wayne County employers starting in October.

Trinity Health plans to lay off 557 workers at its Livonia headquarters, and Niagara Bottling LLC will cut 86 jobs at its Plymouth plant. Both companies filed Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notifications with the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity.

The Trinity Health layoffs at 20555 Victor Parkway in Livonia will happen in phases from Oct. 25 to Nov. 29, according to the notice, which was filed Sept. 3. Nearly all of the jobs are in the health system’s technology and information services division…
