Booger McFarland Identifies CFB Coach Who Has ‘Earned’ the Right to Replace Jim Harbaugh

The Jim Harbaugh era at Michigan has come to an end. Weeks after leading the Wolverines to the national title, the veteran football coach is leaving Ann Arbor for the NFL.

Harbaugh has accepted the head coaching position with the Los Angeles Chargers. He’s set to team up with Justin Herbert, who has yet to play an NFL season with a competent head coach.

Michigan, meanwhile, is left vacant at the head football coaching position. The candidate the Wolverines hire has gigantic shoes to fill. But maybe, just maybe, Michigan AD Warde Manuel doesn’t have to overthink it.

ESPN’s Booger McFarland thinks Michigan offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore has “earned” the right to take over in Ann Arbor.

“Gotta be Sherrone Moore at Michigan right ? He earned that job Went 6-0 this season as interim,” McFarland said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

McFarland makes a strong argument. Moore did a terrific job filling in for Harbaugh during his suspensions last season.

If the Wolverines go in his direction, he’d likely be able to keep most of the current roster and recruiting class together.
