Jim Harbaugh Endorses Sherrone Moore After Promotion

The University of Michigan has undergone massive coaching change in the last several days. National Champion head coach Jim Harbaugh is leaving the university to take the head coach position with the Los Angeles Chargers. Shortly after, the university promoted offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore to the head coach role. The promotion was positive news for Harbaugh who endorsed Moore for the job.

“The only person I would want to do the job,” Harbaugh wrote in a text message Saturday, according to ESPN . “I have 100% conviction that he will make us all very proud!!!”

Moore was one of the top assistant coaches during Harbaugh’s tenure at Michigan. In his six years under Harbaugh, Moore spent three seasons as the tight end coach and three seasons as the offensive line coach. Eventually, he became the offensive coordinator and play-caller as well.

Moore has never been an official head coach, but he served as Michigan’s interim head coach during Harbaugh’s three-game suspension . Harbaugh cited Moore’s success in that period as proof that he can be a successful head coach.
