An overnight assault and home invasion on two elderly residents near Ann Arbor left the woman dead and the man and their dog with injuries, as police investigate.
The incident happened on the 1900 block of Breckland Drive in Pittsfield Township, with police reporting to the scene around 12:06 a.m. Friday, Pittsfield Township police said . A suspect entered the home and assaulted the two residents, both in their 80s, police said. Officers found two victims, a man and a woman, with life-threatening injuries and they were transported to a local hospital, where the female victim died.
Police arrested a suspect in the case, a 40-year-old Pittsfield Township man, police said. The suspect initially fled the scene and a neighbor reported a man who matched the suspect’s description knocking on their door, where police approached and took him into custody, police said.
