Actor Bill Murray delivers laughs, heart at closing Michigan college’s final graduation

ADRIAN, MI – With an honorary degree in hand, actor Bill Murray jokingly told the final graduating class of a soon-to-close Michigan college that he’s ready to throw down.

The longtime famous and beloved American actor and comedian received the final honorary doctorate that Siena Heights University will ever bestow on Saturday, May 9, minutes before more than 400 graduates walked the commencement stage.

The night before, SHU President Cheri Betz said there was a slate of honorary degrees awarded in a separate ceremony. But they saved two as a surprise for Saturday’s crowd. The other went to Murray’s sibling, Nancy, of the Adrian Dominican Sisters, a founding sponsor of the century-old small Catholic institution in 1919…
