Woodhaven girls track and field wins D1 team regional title

The Michigan high school track and field postseason got underway earlier this week with regional meets taking place throughout the state.

Among the local schools in action was Brownstown Woodhaven, which earlier in the month won both the boys and girls titles at annual Metro Classic. The Warriors doubled down on that local success by seeing its girls squad take home a Division 1 team regional championship.

A total of seven first-place finishes helped the Woodhaven girls turn in 129 team points by day’s end, beating out runner-up Ann Arbor Pioneer (100.5) and third-place Saline (93). Three of those seven event wins were in the relay races as well, including a 4x100m team consisting of Myonna Ekanem, Kendall Cunningham, Makenzie Johnson, and Jayelynn Lines…
