Five years after the closing of Cannon Chinese Kitchen — a wildly popular Chinese restaurant housed inside a historic bungalow on Fort Worth’s south side — an independent coffee house will soon open in its place at 304 W. Cannon St.
Called At the Oaks, the cafe comes from Anthony and Chelsea Robles, California natives who moved to Fort Worth six years ago, planting roots on the city’s south side, where they’re raising their three children. The couple plans to open mid-to-late June.
Chelsea says she hopes At the Oaks becomes the kind of place residents naturally fold into their daily routines. While many of the area’s coffee shops sit along busier stretches of the Near Southside, At the Oaks is tucked into a residential pocket, giving it a quieter, more neighborhood-spot feel…
