Holiday travel across North Texas took a major hit Friday after powerful thunderstorms swept through the region, forcing widespread flight disruptions at the area’s two busiest airports.
More than 400 flights were canceled at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport and Dallas Love Field after severe weather prompted the Federal Aviation Administration to issue ground stops throughout the morning. Although both airports resumed operations later in the day, travelers continued to face significant delays as airlines worked to recover from hours of disruption.

The FAA temporarily halted inbound flights to both airports as thunderstorms moved across North Texas. A ground stop prevents aircraft bound for a specific airport from departing until conditions improve, helping manage congestion and maintain safety during severe weather.
