A Texas doctor is one of 12 defendants linked to alleged schemes to defraud Medicare, Medicaid, the Federal Employees Health Benefit Program and private insurers, a U.S. attorney announced on Thursday.
Dr. Jason Finkelstein, a doctor in Fort Worth, was charged with conspiracy to commit health care fraud and wire fraud, as well as health care fraud in relation to an $89 million cardiovascular testing scheme that targeted student athletes and their families at school campuses across the United States, according to a news release and indictment from the DOJ.
