On June 5, 2018, the sellers of a 1999 house with a backyard pool in Arlington, Tarrant County, signed a disclosure form stating that, to their knowledge, the property had no “Previous Flooding into the Structures,” no “Previous Flooding onto the Property,” no “Water Penetration” and no “Improper Drainage.” The buyers closed on July 31.
On September 8, the new owner was at the house when it rained. The backyard filled, runoff darkened the pool, and the water rose over its edge. Water came, by his estimate, “10–15 feet into the house.”
