Injuries put a damper on now-No. 8 BYU’s conquest of gritty TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas — After now-No. 8 BYU held off TCU 17-10 at misty Amon G. Carter Stadium Saturday night, Cougars head coach Kalani Sitake said there was a lot to like about the way his team played.

In winning yet another one-score game — which became a theme last year when the Cougars went 12-2 — BYU displayed the type of complementary football that defines the program. BYU’s defense, special teams and offense — better late than never — combined to help the squad pull out a game that some past BYU teams would have lost.

There was also plenty not to like after the Cougars improved to 2-0 in the Big 12, 4-0 overall, and moved into a tie with Texas Tech and surprising Baylor atop the league standings. Utah and Oklahoma State are also undefeated in league play, but have played only one Big 12 game apiece…
