Many longtime Dallas Mavericks fans would likely concur that Dirk Nowitzki is the greatest player ever to suit up for the franchise. After all, he is the only Mav to have won MVP, and he led the team to its first Finals appearance and eventually sole championship.
However, Luka Doncic seems to have the potential to challenge him for that GOAT honor. In fact, coach Jason Kidd believes the Slovenian superstar has already surpassed Nowitzki, even putting him in the same tier as Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Kobe Bryant.
“You can’t take this young man for granted,” Kidd said. “He’s better than Dirk. He’s in the atmosphere of MJ, the best to ever do it, LeBron, Kobe. And so, just to appreciate what this young man is doing at the age of 24 is something that Dallas has never seen. And I’ve said this internally, he is better than Dirk.”
“He does things that Dirk could never do, and now it’s the opportunity of getting the right people around him to ultimately win a championship.”
