Man who stole vehicle, golf cart gets sentenced to 25 years in prison

A man who led Dallas police on a strange chase by car, foot and golf cart last year has pleaded guilty. 32-year old Kevin Knowles was sentenced to 25-years in prison.

On January 4, 2023, an undercover officer spotted Knowles driving a stolen car, and called for a marked unit. Dallas police tried to pull Knowles over, but instead, Knowles took off. The high speed chase led to several accidents, one serious enough to send a victim to the hospital.

After a few miles, Knowles got out of the car at the Grover Keeton golf course. Knowles stole a golf cart and drove off. Not to be outdone, police commandeered a golf cart of their own, and the chase was back on.

It ended when Knowles ditched the golf cart, became trapped when he tried to hide in a culvert, then opened fire at police. Officers were not hit, although a bullet struck a shield.

Police eventually used a robot and chemicals to get Knowles out.
