More than 7,000 cases of an apple juice sold in Texas have been recalled after potential contamination

More than 7,000 cases of apple juice distributed in Texas have been recalled by a California-based company because the product could be contaminated with patulin, a toxin that can pose health risks to humans and animals, according to the World Health Organization.

The juice-maker, S. Martinelli & Co., recalled the product March 18, according to the Food and Drug Administration.

The recall applies to 7,234 cases — more than 170,000 bottles — and the juice is in a “clear/translucent bulbous/round glass bottle with white metal screw top lid,” the FDA’s website states…
