Severe storm cuts path of destruction across north Texas, killing 1 and injuring many others

FORT WORTH, Texas — Nearly 40,000 north Texans were in the dark Saturday night while a severe thunderstorm swept across the region, causing widespread damage.

The storm brought wind gusts up to 60 mph and golf ball-sized hail. Locals reported seeing scattered debris and power lines blown down.

At least one death has been linked to the storm in Runaway Bay, a lakeside community roughly an hour’s drive northwest of Fort Worth. Many others reported injuries, and about 20 families were displaced…
