World War II planes visit Manassas

The distinctive rumble of World War II radial engines will echo over Prince William County this weekend as the Commemorative Air Force brings its AirPower History Tour to Washington Manassas Airport.

The three-day public event, Friday, July 3, through Sunday, July 5, features vintage military aircraft, including the iconic Boeing B-29 Superfortress “FIFI.” As one of only two operational B-29s remaining in the world, the historic bomber will offer aviation enthusiasts a rare look at the technologically advanced aircraft that helped end World War II.

Presented by the Commemorative Air Force, the world’s largest flying museum, the tour aims to honor American military aviation history. Visitors to the airport’s APP Jet Center ramp can view the historic fleet up close, purchase rides and tour the B-29 cockpit…
