LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. ( DC News Now ) — Brad Littlejohn and his family may live in Loudoun County now, but up until this past summer, they lived just a mile from the North Carolina border in Greenville county, one of many areas ripped apart by Helene.
“When we first kind of saw video clips coming out of some towns that we knew very close to where we lived, and just towns totally wiped off the map, and just felt sick to my stomach,” Littlejohn said.
This is what sparked Littlejohn’s idea to raise money to buy supplies, and to his surprise, the response from the community was overwhelming.
“I think we hit $10,000 within 24 hours, so I doubled the target to $20,000, and we hit that within 48 hours,” Littlejohn said.

With the money collected, Littlejohn was able to buy an overwhelming amount of supplies, everything from diapers to generators.
With the truck all packed up and the family ready to go Sunday morning, Littlejohn just hopes his efforts will spark others to help where they can.
