YANCEY COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — The Mountain Heritage High School band and chorus programs will pause for one year due to low student participation and interest, according to a Yancey County Schools press release on May 27.
Student participation in the high school’s music program has declined steadily over the past 14 years, Yancey County Schools said.
For the upcoming school year, only eight students registered for chorus and 11 students registered for band across six sections offered during the fall and spring semesters.
