Heavy rain triggers landslides, shuts down Chimney Rock State Park temporarily

CHIMNEY ROCK, N.C. (WLOS) — Heavy rainfall over Memorial Day weekend left its mark across western North Carolina, including at one of the region’s most popular tourist destinations.

A landslide has forced the temporary closure of Chimney Rock State Park, as experts say the recent weather created conditions that can trigger slope failures.
