HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — Lake Junaluska visitors will notice a new flock of “birds” on the water this summer with the debut of seven pedal-powered swans, lake officials announced June 1, 2026.
The 20-foot-long boats can seat up to five people and are scheduled to arrive as early as Independence Day weekend. They will be available to rent for $30 per boat per hour through Lake Junaluska Outfitters, a press release said.
The waterfowl-themed pedal boats were gifted to the lake by Carol V. Clark, who was reportedly inspired by her family’s more than 50-year connection to Lake Junaluska and her memory of riding on metal pedal boats with her family.
“I began looking for a possible individual pedal boat for fun and exercise,” Clark said in a news release. “I stumbled on the amazing swan pedal boats and tracked down the factory in Indiana where they are made.”…
