Western NC to receive $300M in FEMA funds for Helene recovery projects

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Western North Carolina communities are set to receive nearly $300 million in additional funding to aid in the Hurricane Helene recovery process.

The funds provided by the Federal Emergency Management Administration will be allocated for nearly 70 individual projects across the region that was ravaged by the historic storm in September 2024.

Many of these projects deal with road repair and debris cleanup and are part of the more than $5 billion provided by FEMA to support disaster survivors, North Carolina and local communities…
