A parking dispute at a North Lauderdale Walmart in Florida turned deadly Tuesday when a 62-year-old man was fatally shot, authorities say.
According to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting followed a verbal argument over a parking space. The woman who fired the weapon claims she acted in self-defense. Investigators are currently looking into the incident.
Cellphone and dashcam videos obtained by ABC News show the confrontation unfolding in the parking lot. The footage captures the woman stepping out of a vehicle and pointing a handgun at the man, identified as Bart Diguglielmo. As the two move around the lot, the woman can be heard telling Diguglielmo to “walk away” just before gunfire erupts.
After the shooting, Diguglielmo is seen sitting and sometimes lying on the ground until law enforcement arrives and appears to detain the woman. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The sheriff’s office reports the woman remained at the scene and cooperated with detectives. Her identity has not been released, and it remains unclear if she was formally taken into custody.
The case will be referred to the 17th Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office in Broward County for review to determine whether any charges will be filed. As of Thursday, the State Attorney’s Office said it had not yet received any official documentation from law enforcement.
Walmart has declined to comment on the matter, directing inquiries to local authorities. The investigation remains ongoing.
