Western NC woman charged after child tests positive for drugs, deputies say

MCDOWELL COUNTY, N.C. (FOX Carolina) – The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office announced that a Nebo woman was arrested after a child tested positive for drugs.

Deputies said that 33-year-old Brittany Danielle Wyatt was charged with felony exposing a child to a controlled substance. She received a $75,000 secured bond.

Officials said that on June 9, a detective spoke with Wyatt at the sheriff’s office after receiving a referral from McDowell County DSS. During the interview, Wyatt stated she had used methamphetamine in the presence of a child in her home. Further investigation and a positive drug analysis test determined the child had been exposed to a controlled substance, and charges were filed…
