More federal funding is headed to Western North Carolina as recovery efforts from Hurricane Helene continue.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has approved additional Hazard Mitigation Grant Program funding for projects designed to reduce the impact of future disasters. Among the projects receiving support are repairs and improvements to water control facilities in Yancey County that were damaged during Helene. The funding will help strengthen critical infrastructure and improve resilience against future flooding and storm-related damage.
