ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — North Carolina has the highest estimated rate of venomous snakebites per capita in the United States, according to a 2026 national analysis.
A new report says the Tar Heel State ranks above every other state, with an estimated 856 venomous snakebites per year and a rate of 18.79 incidents per 100,000 people.
