BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. (WLOS) — The state is signaling the significance of safety with a stop sign installation at a Buncombe County intersection studied over several years.
During the course of five years, the state studied the intersection of Old U.S. 70 East and Padgettown Road, determining there had been “14 crashes in a five-year span at this intersection, and (an) all-way stop would have reduced or eliminated 12 of the crashes,” officials said in a news release about the change. It said the upgrade also will necessitate “stop ahead” and “new traffic pattern” signs to alert drivers to the changes in real time.
