Extreme heat, storms to hit Western NC this week as heat dome expands

Stormy weather is expected every day this week in Western North Carolina, with high heat joining the forecast.

Though daily predictions of storms and rain remain in the National Weather Service forecast as of Monday morning, June 29, the National Weather Service remains somewhat uncertain in the likelihood that said weather will consistently affect Western N.C. Heat levels, however, are more certain, with temperatures placed in the mid-90s throughout the week, particularly towards the end of the week.

With summer officially underway, a hot July 4 is expected in the Asheville area, and throughout Western N.C. Here’s what the weather service says to expect, plus radar, a full weekly forecast from the service and more.

Temperatures are expected to be high in Western N.C. this week thanks to a heat dome, with Thursday, July 2, being the date with the highest predicted temperature as of Monday morning, June 29. July 2 could see high temperatures of 95 degrees according to weather service predictions, with Wednesday and Friday. July 1-3, predictions placed at similar heat levels of 94 degrees.
