Teen accused of killing parents, grandmother makes first in-person court appearance

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Star Grant, the 17-year-old accused of killing her mother, adoptive father and grandmother at their Fairview home, was brought into a Buncombe County Superior Court room on July 1 for her first in-person hearing in the case.

Doug Edwards, Grant’s defense attorney, was with Grant as bailiffs walked her in.

A grand jury indicted Grant and 28-year-old Devan Loving on first-degree murder charges in the deaths of Grant’s parents and grandmother on June 2, 2026. These indictments were handed down nearly a month after investigators say the three victims were shot and stabbed inside their home in Fairview…
