HENDERSON COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — A local attorney and six-term Henderson County commissioner has again been sanctioned and disciplined by the North Carolina State Bar Association in connection with allegations about the misuse of money in a trust fund, officials said.
Following this, attorney and Commissioner J. Michael Edney’s fourth fraught interaction with the North Carolina State Bar, Edney provided WLOS details surrounding this latest instance of sanctions being imposed against the Hendersonville lawyer.
“I have resolved a disciplinary matter with the North Carolina State Bar by consent, and I accept responsibility for the shortcomings identified in the order,” Edney wrote in an email to News 13. “Having conducted their review and investigation beginning in February 2022, there was no finding of dishonesty, fraud, theft, or selfish motive, and no client lost any money as a result of the matters the Bar identified in my practice, which I have corrected.”…
