A motorcyclist died after colliding with an SUV on Tunnel Road in East Asheville on July 3. A second passenger on the motorcycle was seriously injured.
The accident occurred around 9 p.m. July 3 near the Cookout on Tunnel Road. Justin Tyler Evans, 34, was driving a Yamaha motorcycle west toward Asheville. Police reports say he was traveling at a high rate of speed and making sudden lane changes when he smashed into a 2020 Dodge Journey that was attempting to make a left turn onto Buckstone Place from the opposite direction.
The collision ejected Evans and his passenger from the motorcycle. Both sustained critical injuries and were transported to Mission Hospital for treatment. Evans later succumbed to his injuries…
