‘Stunned’: Hendersonville man dead in paramotor crash

HENDERSONVILLE – One man is dead after a recreational flying accident July 15 at the Hendersonville Airport.

Ryan Mark Nelson, 60, of Hendersonville, was killed when the paramotor aircraft that he was flying crashed into the ground around 9:15 a.m., according to a Henderson County Sheriff’s Office incident report and a member of Nelson’s flying group.

Paramotoring uses a backpack-like motor to propel a pilot suspended from a parachute-like wing, as opposed to paragliding, which doesn’t use an engine…
