Fire officials step up burn ban citations amid high wildfire danger across WNC

POLK COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — A citation for violating the statewide burn ban will cost $283 as fire officials across western North Carolina step up enforcement to issue warnings and tickets tied to recent fire activity.

Fire marshals from Buncombe to Polk counties confirm they’re actively writing citations and issuing warnings to back up the burn ban now in effect across North Carolina. In Polk County, officials are also investigating a brush fire that broke out on a property along Pea Ridge Road.
