Country star Morgan Wallen has announced a last-minute cancellation of his scheduled concert at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, citing severe weather conditions as the primary reason. The 33-year-old took to Instagram on Saturday, June 5, just hours before the show was set to begin, explaining that the safety of his fans and crew was his top priority.
“After talking with local officials and my team, there is no choice but to cancel tonight’s show due to severe adverse weather conditions expected throughout the rest of the day and night,” Wallen wrote. “Safety for my fans and crew is the highest priority. Refunds available at point of purchase.”
The cancellation comes shortly after a notable on-stage incident where Wallen appeared frustrated during a performance in Colorado. On May 28 at Empower Field at Mile High, his piano malfunctioned mid-song, prompting Wallen to finish the track a cappella before knocking the instrument over in frustration. A fan-captured video shows the moment, highlighting Wallen’s growing irritation as the piano failed to cooperate.
Wallen is currently touring with his Still The Problem Tour and had performed in Pittsburgh the previous night, where he shared the stage with WWE star and Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle.
This recent turmoil follows a string of controversies surrounding Wallen. Earlier in 2024, he was arrested in Nashville for throwing a chair from a rooftop bar, later pleading guilty to two misdemeanor charges. Additionally, his collaboration with opener Ella Langley on the song “I Can’t Love You Anymore” sparked backlash from some fans on social media due to Wallen’s political associations.
Wallen’s on-stage challenges aren’t new. In a March interview, fellow singer Nate Smith revealed a playful yet tense moment when he threw a drink in Wallen’s face during a joint performance, an incident the two have since laughed off.
As Morgan Wallen continues his tour, fans and critics alike are watching closely, hoping for smooth performances ahead and, of course, safer conditions for everyone involved.
