Fast-moving brush fire prompted temporary evacuation of assisted living facility

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — An assisted living facility was temporarily evacuated as crews battled a fast-moving brush fire in south Asheville the night of Thursday, April 16.

A spokesperson for the Asheville Fire Department said crews were dispatched to 1865 Hendersonville Road for a reported half-acre brush fire that was moving quickly in sagebrush and bamboo.

The fire quickly spread to a nearby assisted living facility on Walden Ridge Road, but the fire department spokesperson said there was no damage to the building…
