‘The chance to do better’: NC Forest Service program trains inmates to fight wildfires

BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. (WLOS) — The North Carolina Forest Service has released a documentary on their Young Offenders Forest Conservation Program (B.R.I.D.G.E) that offers work experience for incarcerated men.

News 13 met four men currently serving time at Caldwell Correctional Facility for nonviolent crimes. Offenders Alexander Kuzmanoff, Greg Poulin, Richard Lange and William Tucker, who goes by his last name, were not handcuffed but instead handed chainsaws and heavy equipment to assist the forest service.
