Environmental group calls on IPEX to clean up PVC pipe debris in French Broad River

WOODFIN, N.C. (WLOS) — A local environmental group says thousands of pieces of PVC pipe are still scattered throughout the French Broad River after Hurricane Helene. Community leaders are now calling on pipe manufacturer IPEX to take part in cleanup and prevention efforts.

MountainTrue hosted a meeting in Woodfin on Tuesday to discuss ongoing debris cleanup efforts and encourage community members to help push for action from the company.

The group says it has spent the past 20 months cleaning debris from the river and claims much of the waste came from IPEX facilities affected during flooding…
