State officials say they will close a prison this summer because the high cost of living in the Buncombe County area has made it too hard to staff.
The Craggy Correctional Center is winding down operations and will transfer its 250 male inmates to other state prisons in coming months, the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction says in a news release.
