ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — A man arrested on May 15 for reportedly shooting and injuring two people at an apartment complex in Asheville made his first court appearance on May 18 at the Buncombe County Courthouse.
Acesa Jackson, 24, was arrested on May 15 and faces multiple felony charges. These charges were described to him in court on May 18 and also the penalties each charge could carry. They were as follows:
- Felony discharging a weapon into occupied property, inflicting serious injury – 231 months (19 years, three months)
- Felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill – 88 months (seven years, four months)
- Felony assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting serious injury – 88 months (seven years four months)
- Six counts of felony discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle – 88 months each
For the victims who reportedly suffered gunshot wounds, the Asheville Police Department said one victim remains in the hospital in critical condition. The other victim was treated at the hospital and later released, police said.
