Trial moves forward for accused spa shooter in Fulton County

ATLANTA, Ga. — Only days after the judge overseeing accused spa shooter Robert Aaron Long’s trial said a shortage of qualified public defenders was hampering the case, Long’s Fulton County death penalty trial will seemingly proceed.

On Monday, Fulton County Superior Court Chief Judge Ural Glanville heard from two public defenders who said they had experience in representing clients facing the death penalty. Glanville set a June 29 hearing for an update on the case.

Last week, Glanville said Long must have two attorneys representing him who are qualified in death-penalty proceedings. Despite the case being five years old, “we’re at an impasse,” Glanville said…
