Days after a federal investigation of MARTA, Atlanta’s public transportation network, was announced, a man was shot aboard a train in what police are calling a random attack.
The shooting sparked a manhunt through the weekend and fears of violence on MARTA less than a week before the launch of the World Cup in Atlanta. Eight matches will be held at the Atlanta Stadium (Mercedes-Benz Stadium), accessible from multiple MARTA train and bus stops in the city’s entertainment district.
With limited parking, many fans are expected to rely on public transit or rideshares for access to matches and fan fests for the entirety of the tournament…
