MARIETTA — An 81-year-old Marietta man died two days after his truck crossed into oncoming traffic and was struck by a semi-truck on Ernest Barrett Parkway, Cobb County police say.
What happened: 81-year-old Michael Alvarado was driving his red 2000 Chevrolet Silverado north on Ernest Barrett Parkway, near the Irwin Road overpass, when he lost control of the truck at about 7:55 p.m. on August 6. The Silverado crossed the median and entered the southbound lanes, where the front of a gray 2023 Mack Anthem semi-truck hit the driver’s side of Alvarado’s vehicle.
The Silverado came to rest on the western shoulder. The semi-truck’s driver brought his vehicle to a stop in the right southbound lane and was not hurt…
