Sandy Springs to discuss jail agreement with northeast Georgia sheriff’s office

The Sandy Springs City Council will discuss a new jail agreement to transport inmates to Lumpkin County.

The discussion will happen during Tuesday’s council meeting.

“The City of Sandy Springs does not have its own jail facility for the holding of people sentenced to jail terms by the Sandy Springs Municipal Court,” documents say. “Because of this, the City has maintained an intergovernmental agreement with other law enforcement agencies over the years that are able to provide housing for prison inmates, such as the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Alpharetta Police Department, for the holding of prison inmates.”
