The driver accused of hitting and killing a woman with his car is now in custody and faces a charge of homicide by vehicle.
The Conyers Police Department announced Tuesday morning that Derrick Lydell Mathis, 52 of Oxford, is accused of striking Andrea Cantrell with his vehicle early on Monday morning.
Working with the Georgia State Patrol, Conyers police identified the vehicle and Mathis through the use of surveillance footage.
