(NewsNation) — Hackers who removed a Flock Safety surveillance camera from above a roadway were able to copy data stored on the device, offering a rare look inside the technology used to track vehicles and people across the country.
The hackers shared the files with 404 Media and WIRED, which analyzed the recovered data as part of a joint investigation. The hackers, who identify themselves as part of a collective called stegan0gram, said they also plan to publish details about how they accessed the software, hoping others can replicate their work.
