ATLANTA, Ga. (Decaturish) — The city of Decatur is updating an ordinance that establishes residential permit parking areas in the city to make parking rules more enforceable.
The goal of a residential parking program is to give residents priority for parking near their homes and to reduce the number of non-residential vehicles in neighborhoods. People without city-issued parking permits could be cited. Residents on streets with a residential parking program would have to purchase annual permits from the city to continue parking there.
There are 37 designated streets identified in the current ordinance, including Montgomery Street, Hillcrest Avenue, Sycamore Drive, North Candler Street, Avery Street and Park Drive…
