‘I can see my business slowing’: Package store near I-285 project says traffic changes are hurting sales

ATLANTA — Drivers traveling through southwest Atlanta are catching a break this Mother’s Day weekend after the Georgia Department of Transportation postponed a full shutdown of Interstate 285 between Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Cascade Road.

But while all lanes are not closed, two lanes in both the northbound and southbound directions of I-285 between MLK and Cascade Road remain shut down.

The delayed full closure is saving commuters time — and gas — during one of the busier travel weekends of the spring. But some nearby businesses say construction and traffic disruptions are already affecting their bottom line…
